An Elegy? Sounds more like an allergy.

I've finally sketch out the full draft of my composition for cello and piano that took me nearly 4 years to complete. But sadly, the format of the sketch is in piano solo instrumentation. So, I have to say that it is only 50% complete.

I called this new work of mine "Elegy". Some people who are sarcastic would say "HUH?! A WHAT??!!! An allergy??!!! Why would you write something for cello and piano. So Evil! EEEVVVVVIIIILLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!! (Evil Overtones)". I suggested that it is a composition like a memorium-style work. Or like something to remind us of those who has join the crowd of the invisibles.

Simply, I called it that way because I want to write it in memory of those who perished in the tusnami disaster of 26th DECEMBER 2004. And that work was played in my mind the moment I see saw the news on TV. Funny part is, I dun even know that it happened because I was on the other side of the peninsular on a holiday trip.

I was amazed that God didn't allow my dad to book our holidays west of the Peninsular of Malaysia until he realised the reasons of why he was prevented by God from bringing the family for holiday by booking a hotel there. I was grateful that God even prevented another church member whom I met few months before during a chucrh SOL(School of Leadership) lvl 1 course. He too was about to bring his family to the same destination as my family nearly headed to.

One thing for sure about this work I can say is it took me a long time to figure out the following aspects :

1) Time signature
2) Motives and ideas
3) Style
4) Subtitles and dedication titles
5) The worse of all : PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT

Now I finally agreed to giving a simple one instead of a more complex one.

The work may not be perform officially until next year (the latest I can guarantee).

If anyone reading this is interested to know how it sounds like, I would suggest you to drop me a mail so that I can keep you updated and informed of the performances for that particular work. If all goes well, maybe I allow it to be downloaded for free ("Dream on!!!!!" says the blogger to himself).
